Student Lunch Hutch

Spring 2017

This project was done during a Research/Design/Build studio semester.  The goal was to create a build-able object that could be utilized by children K-12 at a local magnet school.  There was a need for seating during the lunch hour, so my team designed a mobile hutch that stored seating blocks that could be stored in a Tetris-like orientation within a larger seating hutch.  The coloring of the blocks corresponds to how it is placed back into the container, encouraging students to interact with the object and return the blocks once they have finished using them.

The hutch was built out of wood and clad in metal, and the interior was layered with foam cushioning and weatherproof fabric.
